IMSCAD are in the unique position of being a former Autodesk reseller and longstanding Citrix partner. Their mission is to offer all ‘Private Cloud’ and Citrix support services to the Autodesk channel partners and their clients as well as delivering any other CAD based software onto Citrix.
Autodesk software has historically been a PC/workstation based product, due to the processing required for graphics, but now with IMSCAD’s pioneering the use of Citrix, the idea of running AutoCAD and Revit software in a virtualised server ‘Private Cloud’ environment is a reality.
Autodesk have released 9 new ‘Citrix Ready’ versions onto the market, including The AutoCAD 2012 family of products and the Revit 2012 range of 3D design software.
Citrix have been very supportive of IMSCAD’s model as the CAD industry is an area they have wanted to penetrate for a while. Citrix products such as XenApp 6 and XenDesktop 5 can really now deliver a user experience from a central data centre or client server room that is second to none, saving time and money for organisations IT departments.
IMSCAD have been involved in testing the new Autodesk ‘Citrix Ready’ versions from their central London data centre since 2008, and have had Autodesk clients running a series of ‘Pilot Projects’ in production environments and have been at the forefront of this development. Head of Engineering at IMSCAD, Anthony Anderson stated, ‘Centralising all your data provides much lower cost of management, better security and like never before gives CAD users the flexibility of working from the office, home and even on-site with comparable performance as they would expect from a PC/workstation’.
IMSCAD have already partnered with all the main Autodesk resellers across EMEA and now are embarking on a campaign of informing the market that this solution is now available to end users. IMSCAD see this as the first step towards ‘The Cloud’ delivery of CAD applications. IMSCAD will be at the forefront of this new technology, supported by Citrix.
