Citrix joins The Cloud Industry Forum

Global leader in virtualisation becomes the latest organisation to endorse CIF and its Code of Practice.

Date: 6 Jul 2012

Mobile workstyles and cloud services provider Citrix has become the latest company to join the Cloud Industry Forum, the organisation founded to promote trust, security and transparency within the cloud sector.

Citrix is the latest in a number of key cloud technology vendors becoming members of the industry body which advocates end user adoption and driving best practice in the delivery of cloud services.

The Cloud Industry Forum was established in 2009 to provide transparency through certification to a Code of Practice for credible online Cloud service providers and to assist end users in determining core information necessary to enable them to adopt these services.

Damian Saunders, Director, Cloud Services at Citrix, stated: “As the industry makes the transition from the PC era to the cloud era, many end user organisations are beginning to embrace the cloud. It can be a challenging prospect for companies to provide a seamless experience of desktops, applications, and data across the plethora of devices that are being used by employees today. The work of the Cloud Industry Forum is integral to educating the market on how to overcome these and other technical, commercial and operational challenges.”

Andy Burton, Chair of CIF and CEO of Fasthosts, added: “Citrix joining the Forum is great news for the industry as a whole as it brings together all three major players in the hypervisor market. Such a well known and respected brand is a welcome addition to the organisation and we are delighted Citrix has joined as it is an influential voice for Service Providers and Enterprises alike. Cloud computing is rapidly fuelling growth in connected devices, real-time data streams, virtualisation and the adoption of service-oriented architectures and Web 2.0 applications, such as mashups, open collaboration, social networking and mobile commerce. This is why the hypervisor community plays such a vital role in the cloud ecosystem and why they form an important part of our membership.”

CIF operates the only certified Code of Practice, based upon best practice for Cloud Service Providers with the aim of bringing transparency, regulation, and standards to the sector and to assist end users in determining the core information necessary to enable them to adopt cloud services.
