Millstream chooses MTI for cloud and managed services

MTI Scotland manages explosive data for eProcurement specialist.

Date: 31 Jul 2012

MTI announces a deal with Millstream, the Aberdeen-based provider of eProcurement services. In need of a business continuity and disaster recovery solution to cover its entire UK operation, Millstream has selected MTI’s team in Edinburgh to design and supply a bespoke solution encompassing both cloud and managed services, for the next three years.

Tim Williams, Managing Director at Millstream, comments: “The services we provide involve the secure delivery of time sensitive tender documentation for contracts worth many hundreds of millions of pounds. If a document is delivered late, or not at all, it can cost the contractor many thousands of pounds in wasted bid costs, cost the taxpayer by not being able to take advantage of the best bid and given the high stakes is likely to end up in court. We absolutely have to be able to provide a reliable service that we can restore immediately even in the event of a major disaster. MTI’s services significantly enhance our capability to maintain business continuity and rapid recovery from any disaster.”

Ian Parslow, Vice President of Sales, Europe for MTI, adds: “Explosive data growth, disaster recovery and the ability to keep a business up and running through any disruption are concerns many of our customers have, across Scotland and the rest of the UK. They are timely tasks that we have found distract CIOs and IT departments from leading innovation. MTI’s managed and cloud services are receiving positive traction as a result, as they allow companies’ IT departments to outsource these responsibilities to a hands-on team.”
MTI will provide Millstream with:
• A business continuity and disaster recovery solution, which will incorporate both its cloud (MTI Cloud) and managed services
• Further storage capacity with two SANs across two sites: an EMC VNX 5300 and a CX EMC SAN upgrade
• Seamless disaster recovery transfer between the two sites using VMware Site Recovery Manager
